ETHOS

We aim to provide a welcoming space for caregivers to connect and share experiences, while their children aged 0-5 enjoy a safe, enriching environment to play and explore. It is our belief that young families should feel deeply valued within their local community. It is our goal to help foster long-lasting connections and a sense of belonging for families navigating the early years.

HISTORY

Located in the heart of Inglewood at the Inglewood Children’s Centre, our Playgroup has been facilitating community involvement and child development for nearly 40 years. The Inglewood Children’s Centre was purpose built for the playgroup and is a fixture of Inglewood Town Square, situated right next to Inglewood Library, the Child Health Nurse, Inglewood Arts Hub and the Bob Daniel Community Centre.

FACILITIES

Our facilities include a full kitchen area, free tea and coffee, children’s toilets, air-conditioning, baby change facilities, bluetooth speakers, soft mats, several toy store rooms, and a shaded outdoor area with a sandpit and playground.

SESSIONS

When you become a member at Inglewood Playgroup, you are joining a community, not using a service. All sessions are member-led which means it is up to carers to open/close, supervise, and run each group. Sessions can include time for dance, stories, free play, activities/craft, and morning tea. Members may take turns providing art/craft or sensory activities to run during each session. Session leaders are available to support our members with any queries, suggestions, or concerns.

FUNDRAISING AND BUSY BEES

We hold one or more Fundraisers in the year (e.g. a Bunnings sausage sizzle or second hand sale) to fund new toys and resources. We also have up to two Busy Bees each year to clean and sort the toys. We need our members and/or their families to volunteer their time at these events. Playgroup is a volunteer-run organisation and member participation is essential. See our Events tab to keep up to date on coming events.

COMMITTEE

Our playgroup is guided by a dedicated committee of volunteers. We operate under a non-hierarchical structure, make decisions by consensus, and encourage all members to attend general meetings. Members who have attended for more than one term are invited to take on committee and session leader roles.
